Estonian Delegation Visit WLP Ltd

Waterford LEADER Partnership Ltd hosted a visit  on the 7th October 2009 from a fifteen strong delegation of Estonian LEADER and Local Authority Members to County Waterford on behalf of Tipperary Institute, the Dept. of Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and the Dept of Agriculture.

The delegates were from Kuusalu, LEADER EESTI,Vortsjarve Association, Western-Harju Partnership, Tartu Development Association, Development Centre, and Mulgimaa Development, and the Local Authorities in these areas.

Their visit to Waterford involved five practical site visits to Food/Tourism and Heritage Projects. The projects were: Baldwins Farmhouse Ice Cream, Knockanore Cheese, Ballymacarbry Hiking Centre, Blackwater Boating, and the Blackwater Cot Boat Building Project.

The visit was a welcome opportunity to showcase West Waterford, and the delegates from Estonia were impressed by the calibre and drive of the project promoters. The day was rounded off with a short kayak trip up the Blackwater from Cappoquin towards Lismore.
