In the early 1990’s Sean Tobin (Managing Director) recognised the increased interest in football and started making some goal posts on a trial basis.  Sean started to study ‘goal posts’ for the various sports such as Gaelic games, soccer, hockey and rugby. In the past 15 years the company’s business has been transformed. The company now specialises in the manufacture and sale of goal posts, team shelters and sports equipment and produces the full range of goal posts from juvenile posts to posts for senior games.

In 2003, Goalpost Ireland decided to secure certification under International Safety Standards EN 748 and PAS 36-1:2000 certifying that its goalposts are manufactured to International Standards.  Having secured this Certificate the company identified the opportunity to develop and operate a testing facility in Ireland, as there is no Irish organisation or company that can undertake the testing of goalposts and sports equipment.

In order to develop this facility it will be necessary for Goalpost Ireland to purchase and install testing equipment including the purchase of an on site test and calibration unit.  In addition the company plans to purchase and install a powder coating plant.  Having sought financial assistance, WLP granted funding for its development in 2006. This project is still ongoing with work in progress.
