Lismore Playground This is a Leader + Enhancing the Environment funded project
The Lismore Playground Committee was established in September 2004 to raise funds to build a playground in Lismore due to the demand for playground facilities from the local community. The committee, comprised of local parents, identified a need for this facility in their area to engage with the children from a social perspective. The committee consulted with Waterford County Council and was allocated a suitable site from Lismore Estates, opposite the Lismore House Hotel car-park and adjacent to the new public car-park. As Lismore has a strong tourist presence in the summer season, the playground is an added attraction in a convenient and accessible location as well as enhancing the general area. The play area consists of one general section, with a specially formulated spring form tarmac area under each item of equipment, thus ensuring it is a safe and secure environment for the children to pay in. Waterford Leader Partnership assisted with the cost of the playground equipment for this project.
