In the latter half of 2008, The
County Waterford Local Employment Service (LES) organised a 2nd “Business Excellence & Career Planning”
workshops for its clients. The programme was delivered over a 6 week period in
October and November and was funded by the Local Development Social Inclusion
Programme (LDSIP – co-ordinated by Waterford Leader Partnership Ltd.). LDSIP is
dedicated to countering disadvantage and promoting equality, social and
economic inclusion in the County.
During the programme, participants
were provided with a variety of communication / operation / organisation skills
during an engaging programme, delivered by a highly qualified and motivational
trainer, which featured an appropriate blend of theory and practice.
The LES (co-ordinated by WLP Ltd.,
under contract to FAS), is based at 21, Church Street, Dungarvan and assists
job seekers with taking those practical steps needed to secure employment,
training and educational opportunities. It is a free service to all individuals
in receipt of a Social Welfare payment.
The first Business Excellence &
Career Planning course proved to be so successful that the LES organised a second
programme (and also delivered the programme to clients of the LES in Carrick on
Suir). There are new training opportunities proposed for the 2009, including “Core
Employment Skills and Safety Training”; “Computer Training for Improvers
(Intermediate Level)”; “Reception Skills” (for those with ECDL Accreditation);
Traditional Stonewall Building Course . To register with the LES or for more
information on training supports available, please contact the LES on
058-45750.
