FETAC Reception Skills Programme for LES Clients in Dungarvan
The County Waterford Local Employment Service (LES) recently successfully secured funding from the Local Development Social Inclusion Programme (LDSIP) administered by Waterford Leader Partnership Ltd. (WLP).
The programme, which commenced on June 15th, was delivered to the willing and enthusiastic trainees by Deise Training in Dungarvan. Lead-tutor Mary O’ Neill guided the students through the intensive 6-week programme (5 mornings per week) covering a wide variety of modules in Computer Training; Typing Skills; Receptionist Training – Role; Working Environment; Front-line activities; Telephone techniques; Information & Communication Technologies. In addition, interesting interventions from guest speakers (Colette Bannon – The Work Coach & Ann O’ Driscoll - Colour-me-Beautiful Style Consultant) were added to the worthwhile and busy training programme.
The trainees also gained from some valuable work experience through placements organised by the LES and facilitated by very generous local employers (ABC Property; Damian Dillon Architects; Dungarvan Chamber of Commerce; Microchem Lancaster Laboratories Europe; St. Joseph’s Hospital) The LES, and in particular the Trainees are extremely grateful for the experience made available by those employers and also other employers who had kindly offered placements (Dungarvan Town Council; E-Project; Lawlors Hotel; Microbrush International).
Given the generous funding provided by theLDSIP for the Training, the programme was a tremendous success and has given the participants valuable new skills which will enable them to take up opportunities in the future. One participant has already secured employment following the programme and with their new accreditation, job success for all the participants is sure to follow.
The County Waterford LES provides a range of services to job-seekers within the local community. The LES focuses on the provision of practical support, advice, guidance and information relating to employment and training opportunities for job-seekers. Please contact the LES @ 058-45750 for information on the supports offered and the proposed Training Programmes for the remainder of 2009.
