New Opportunities - Education and Training Exhibition

Waterford Leader Partnership Ltd in collaboration with the County Waterford VEC held an inaugural education and training exhibition on Friday April 30^th at Lawlor’s Hotel, Dungarvan. All major public education and training providers including FAS, VEC, WIT, UCC, Tipperary Institute and many more were in attendance.The day was very well received by the general public with large numbers of people attending the event.

The idea behind the occasion was to bring education and training providers from Waterford and the surrounding counties under the one roof.  No less than 23 providers hosted a stand at the exhibition and were on hand to give information on training/course options.  Representatives from The Department of Social and Family Affairs and the VEC grants office were also in attendance to provide information on financial supports for adults returning to learning.  Many Leaving Certificate students also took advantage of the event to meet the representatives from the third level sector.

Returning to learning can be a daunting task for anyone, with so much information available it can be difficult to navigate through it all.  Sometimes, especially in rural communities it can be difficult to be aware of what facilities and supports exist and how best to access these.   Events such as these are useful to enable people to access information easily and to meet providers face to face.
