Animation 2010 RDP

A key part of the Rural Development Programme 2007-2015 is to promote the RDP and its results to rural Co. Waterford by way of targeted information provision to the rural audience.  This will be completed through the animation strategy of WLP as follows:

-          Animation of Farm Families

-          Animation of new and existing rural based entrepreneurs

-          Animation of rural tourism Activities

-          Animation of inter territorial action

-          Animation of rural communities

-          Animation of ideas generation.

To date, WLP staff has provided information to the rural communities based on the animation strategy as follows:

  • Comeragh Mountain Park: as promoted by Waterford County Council, Waterford Leader Partnership gave two presentations on the workings of the  RDP in Ballymacarbry and Rathgormack;
  • Lismore Area Community Forum: presentation to the community groups in West Waterford on the workings of the RDP and the application and eligibility process;
  • Dungarvan Area Community Forum: presentation to the community groups in the Dungarvan area on the workings of the RDP, eligibility and the application process
  • Dunhill Rural Enterprise Conference: creating rural jobs and enterprise: WLP had a stand at the National Jobs Conference held in the Dunhill Ecopark, Dunhill, Co. Waterford on Friday 23rd April hosted by Waterford County Council and Dunhill Rural Enterprises Ltd.  The conference focused on how to create new enterprise and jobs in rural Ireland 2010-2016. Approx. 70 people attended the event.
  • Education & Training Exhibition, Lawlors Hotel, Dungarvan: Waterford Leader Partnership under the Local & Community Development Programme (LCDP) in association with Co-Waterford VEC hosted this one day event on Friday, April 30th.  This event was targeting adults, the unemployed and early school leavers to come and meet with the various agencies that were attending such as WLP; LES; VEC; DSFA; FAS; UCC; CIT;WIT; WLP Rural Development team also had a stand on the day for anyone wishing to receive information on the Rural Development Programme.
  • Comeragh and Suir Community Forum Groups, St. Anne’s Hall, Kilrossanty: WLP gave a presentation recently to the Comeragh and Suir Community groups under the Community Forum at St. Anne’s Hall, Kilrossanty which was represented by community groups in the surrounding areas of East Waterford. A questions and answers session took place after the presentation.
  • Bank of Ireland Green Business Breakfast, Dunhill Enterprise Centre.  Bank of Ireland, Waterford invited WLP to take a stand at their Green Business Breakfast held on Tuesday morning last 25th May in the Dunhill Ecopark from 7.30am to 10.30am. The event was targeted at people interested in getting involved in alternative/green energy projects and the supports available both from a training and financial perspective.

This is an example of some of the groups that WLP have met with since the beginning of the year.  The Rural Development staff; Jimmy Taaffe & Niamh Budds (West) and Claire Connors (East) are available to discuss in detail any questions that you may have on the Rural Development Programme.
