Traditional Stone Building Course – Lismore

This project was funded by Waterford Leader Partnership Ltd under the Local & Community Development Programme (LCDP).

During this nine day Traditional Stone Building course trainees were introduced to safety procedures in stonework, best tools for use in stonewall building, sorting stone and laying foundations.  Following instruction, participants made mortars, portland cement and mixes, lime putty and hydraulic lime. Trainees also participated in building entranceway structures, square piers, round piers, curved walls, steps which were incorporated into a retaining wall structure and stone cladding. Trainees were also involved in the restoration of a 19th Century boundary wall. Training was funded by Waterford Leader Partnership Ltd under the Local & Community Development Programme.
