Villierstown Education & Culture Project (VECP) were established in 2008 and are a proactive community based organisation whose aim is to develop education, arts and culture in Villierstown, Co. Waterford. Their main goal is to preserve the community spirit while taking steps to build a better future for the village, bringing benefits to every resident and visitor alike.  In order to assist with this process, VECP participated in a Community Facilitation programme organised by Waterford Leader Partnership Ltd under the Training Measure of the Rural Development Programme.   This training ran for 6 weeks and with the help of a trained facilitator, the group successfully completed the training and moved on to applying for funding for projects in their area.

The first project that was funded through the Rural Development Programme under the Basic Services to the Environment and Local Population Measure as administered by Waterford Leader Partnership enabled the group to purchase tables, chairs and a lectern for hosting meetings and community events.  They also developed their own community website, www.vecp.ie

The group are now firmly established and committed in their efforts in moving forwards and developing projects in their community.
