Tallow Enterprise Centre Training.
Tallow Enterprise Centre is located at Nora Herlihy House, West Street, Tallow, Co. Waterford. The centre was initially set up by the Tallow Enterprise Group Ltd., which was formed in 1986 by the coming together of the local community, Tallow Area Credit Union and FÁS. Tallow Enterprise Group Ltd. is a company limited by guarantee with charitable status. It is comprised of a voluntary board of directors who, with assistance from State Bodies and non Governmental Organisations, have undertaken many beneficial community projects. It has always been the aim of Tallow Enterprise Group to establish and promote community development. Currently Tallow Enterprise Centre is engaged in the provision of education and training for all identified needs in the community of Tallow and the surrounding areas. This is with the view to promoting social, economic and cultural welfare and particularly empowering specific disadvantaged groups to effectively participate in programmes of personal and social development. Tallow Enterprise Group applied for funding under the Rural Development Programme Training Measure administered by Waterford Leader Partnership Ltd to run an Art Course and a Creative Writing Course for the people of Tallow. Both courses proved very popular with a waiting list for the Art Course. This course ran over Autumn/Winter 2010 and Spring/Summer 2011. The Creative Writing Course ran for Autumn/Winter 2010 and resulted in the publication of a book of short stories.
