Camphire International Horse Trials
Camphire International has been hosting international horse competitions for the past ten years. Thousands gather for their cross county, dressage and showjumping events, which are fought out in spectacular parkland on the banks of the River Blackwater. There's no other eventing venue like it, which is why we were delighted to help fund their 2011 international competition weekend. At Waterford LEADER Partnership Ltd we actively encourage and support rural tourism initiatives, particularly those that make use of Waterford's natural resources. The support for the Horse Trials is focused on exploiting commercial opportunities in existing and emerging markets for both Tourism and the Sport Horse Sector. Waterford LEADER Partnership Ltd is part funding the investment in the structure and facilities to underpin the running of the Camphire International Horse Trials. Set in undulating parkland on the banks of the river Blackwater, Camphire has been hosting national horse trials under the rules of Eventing Ireland for the past ten years. Camphire International 2011, took place on the weekend of the 19th, 20th & 21st August for classes CIC**, CIC* and CIC* 5 & 6yr old. A national one day Event ran on Sat. 20th August during the International catering for Prenovice, Pony B and Sportsman B. Camphire is located at the confluence of the Blackwater and Bride rivers, within a five mile radius of the towns of Lismore, Cappoquin and Tallow. This project was part funded by Waterford Leader Partnership Ltd under the Encouragement of Tourism Activities Measure of the Rural Development Programme.
