Higher Certificate in Arts in Community Education and Development

Higher Certificate in Arts in Community Education and Development

Joint Education Initiative between the Local Community & Development Programme and Waterford Institute of Technology.

This programme is jointly funded By Waterford Leader Partnership, Waterford Area Partnership and Department of Social Protection. The group commenced their programme of study in 2011 and in 2014 all participants will successfully have achieved their higher certificate in Arts in Community Education and Development.

The aim of this course is to facilitate students to develop their skills, knowledge and attitudes in order to work as reflective practitioners in community education and community development settings. This is achieved by facilitating students to become critically aware of their surroundings, ask questions and challenge for change and equality.

All participants have reported that they are enjoying and are benefiting from the programme. And the training is invaluable in contributing to each participant’s involvement in their own community. On completion of this training programme participants will be in a better position to secure employment in this particular field in the future.

Any individual who is thinking of further training and education please contact Teresa Wright, Project officer on 058-51501, Local Community Development Programme and Waterford LEADER Partnership.
