Lismore Music Festival 2012

Since it’s formation in 2010 the Lismore Musical Festival has presented three new productions of some of the world's favourite operas and have created a schools education and audience development programme that introduces local children to the joy of opera and classical music for the first time in the unique location of Lismore Castle. Each year the festival has expanded and it has become a firm favourite and an established date on the Opera and Summer Festival calendar with increasing audience numbers and visitors to West Waterford. The festival creates seasonal employment and stimulates the local economy.

In 2012 the festival welcomed President of Ireland His Excellency Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina to a production of The Barber of Seville along with over 200 young people who attended the schools programme.

The festival development is made possible with funding from Waterford Leader Partnership Ltd Rural Development Programme Encouragement of Tourism Activites Measure.
