“Jumping to New Heights: Dungarvan Agricultural Show’s Winning Formula!”
Dungarvan Agricultural Show stands out as County Waterford’s premier agricultural event, drawing exhibitors and visitors from all corners of Ireland. In 2024, the show proudly hosted its third consecutive All-Ireland horse final, alongside several Irish Shows Association qualifiers. The event’s growing popularity has made it a highlight on the rural calendar, filling local hotels and B\&Bs with enthusiastic guests.
Rising to the Challenge
With increasing attendance and high standards to maintain, the show organisers identified several key improvements:
- Upgrading fences and safety equipment for the Pony Working Hunter Arenas
- Enhancing signage for easier navigation
- Adding more seating for seniors and families
- Securing a storage container for new equipment
LEADER Funding in Action
To meet these needs, Dungarvan Agricultural Show CLG successfully applied for LEADER funding in 2024. The grant enabled the purchase of new cross-country jumps, safety inserts and cups, timber signage, additional chairs, and a secure storage container.
Project Goals
- Attract more competitors with upgraded equipment
- Raise safety standards for all participants
- Improve the overall visitor experience
- Ensure safe, organized storage of show assets
Results
Thanks to the LEADER grant, all planned improvements were delivered for the 2024 show, helping Dungarvan Agricultural Show CLG achieve its objectives and set the stage for even greater events in the future.
