The Fisherman’s Hall Development Committee & Trustees were awarded funding in 2018 for the refurbishment of the Fisherman’s Hall in Dunmore East. The hall is included within Waterford City and County Council Development Plan as a protected structure RPS-513. The building is also recorded within the NIAH main record – 22817042 as of ‘Regional Importance’. The village of Dunmore East is inextricably linked with the Malcomsom family and the Fisherman’s Hall and the Villa Marina (presently the Haven Hotel) are the main manifestations of the family’s connection.
The restoration work includes the construction of a meeting room and associated kitchen, a storeroom, a unisex toilet and disabled toilet along with connecting doors to the existing structure. The work also includes upgrades to the existing hall and creche at the north end of the building, electrical and mechanical services to the extension and a new fire alarm installation for the complete building.
