The Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht has released Recreation in Ireland’s Outdoors: Property Rights, Access and People’s Responsibilities.

The booklet explains how access, rights, and responsibilities work, helping everyone enjoy the outdoors respectfully and sustainably.
This is essential reading for all outdoor recreation users, as well as landowners and farmers who host and manage our outdoor spaces.
The message ties in closely with the aims of the Walks Scheme, administered in Waterford by Waterford LEADER Partnership, which supports landowners who maintain Ireland’s network of rural trails, helping to keep our outdoors open, safe and welcoming for everyone.
