Following a hugely successful six-month pilot in Dungarvan, Waterford LEADER Partnership CLG is delighted to announce that the Little Jobs Service is set to continue! 🎉
What began as a pilot to explore the need for a practical, community-based service has demonstrated just how much of a difference a small helping hand can make.
👵👴 Supporting independence. Strengthening communities. Making life a little easier.
During the pilot, the service supported up to 50 clients, ranging in age from 66 to 90+, many of whom live alone.
From grass cutting and painting to gutter cleaning, power washing and minor household repairs, our team has helped older people maintain their homes, improve their sense of security and wellbeing, and continue living independently in their own communities.
And the feedback? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Clients have praised the quality of the work, professionalism of the team and the value of having a trusted local service they can rely on.
But the impact goes beyond the work carried out.
The Little Jobs Service has also created valuable employment, training and work-experience opportunities through the Tús and Rural Social Scheme (RSS), bringing together community employment and community support in a way that benefits everyone.
🌱 And what’s next?
The demand in Dungarvan has been so strong that the service has now reached capacity, with a waiting list being introduced as places become available.
But we’re not stopping there…
Waterford LEADER Partnership will explore opportunities to develop and potentially bring the Little Jobs Service to other rural communities across County Waterford. 🚐🏡
A big thank you to everyone who has helped make the pilot such a success — our clients, staff, Tús and RSS participants, supervisors and community partners.
