Waterford LEADER Partnership Secures €158,959 for Trail Enhancements Under ORIS

Waterford LEADER Partnership is delighted to announce the allocation of €158,959 in funding through the Outdoor Recreation and Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) to support four key outdoor recreation projects in Co. Waterford.

Funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, these projects focus on improving trail access for diverse levels of mobility, protecting natural biodiversity, and enhancing the visitor experience across four well-loved local routes.

🔹 St. Declan’s Way – €39,998

Measure 1: Reopening 1.4 km of off-road paths in Monaulmmery, via St. Declan’s Well and nearby boreens, enriching both the walking experience and its cultural significance.

🔹 Anne Valley Walk – €39,848

Measure 1: Installation and upgrade of multi-access infrastructure to improve outdoor accessibility and introduce biodiversity improvements.

🔹 Ramp Boreen Trail – €34,376

Measure 1: Erosion repairs, drainage upgrades, and vegetation clearance to enhance accessibility for users of all abilities.

🔹 Glentanagree Bridge “Barracks” Site, Knockmealdown Mountains – €44,737

Project Development Measure: Planning and development of the Glentanagree Bridge trailhead, including ecological and trail assessments and a full management plan to bring the site into public use.

These improvements will not only make our trails more enjoyable and inclusive but also support sustainable tourism, health, and wellbeing in our rural communities.
