Liam and Simone Webb Rathoe, Co. Carlow farm in the beautiful countryside outside Carlow town. The farm has traditional stone buildings and an ancient mass path that runs through the fields. The Webbs have been taking Social Farming participants since 2017 and are really experienced social farmers.
Eamonn and Louise Maher, Callan Co. Kilkenny along with Eamonn’s brother Jim and brother in law George have been welcoming Social Farming participants to their farm since the beginning of 2019.
Bernie Murphy, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford started taking Social Farming participants on to her family farm in 2019. Bernie has the support of her daughter Brenda and son John who are delighted that she is able to share her knowledge and skills with others.
Brian Sulivan, Lemybrien, Co. Waterford is assisted on the farm by his partner Niamh, Mother Margaret and also his grandmother Bridgit, each having a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with the Social Farming participants who come out to the farm on placements.
Brandon McLane and Grace Maher, Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow is part of the WLP Social Farming Initiative and they live on an organic farm where they have built their own straw bale house.
James and Emer Leahy, Dungourney, Co. Cork are part of the WLP Social Farming Initiative. They and their family have a beef enterprise along with a collection of other farm animals, eg. Pigs, goats, dogs and hens.
Eamonn and Nathalie Wallace, Windgap, Co. Kilkenny took their first Social Farming Participants onto their farm in 2019. They have an organic farm where they grow fruit and vegetables for the Market in Kilkenny and they also have a large flock of hens whose eggs are also sold at the market.
The Waterford Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) were delighted to assist the promoters, Paul and Ruth Deegan, part fund this project under the Local Objective 1 Rural Tourism, SA 1.4 Community hostels, RV Parks, glamping/camping. Funding went toward the development of the Nire Valley Eco Camp; a low density, low impact eco campsite using off grid timber cabins with individual integrated constructed wetlands (ICWs) for water treatment, allowing the comfort of full bathroom facilities in the cabins.
